RESCUE ADOPTATHON

Rescued animals for adoption! Live acoustic music!

This event will take place indoors inside our spacious (and air-conditioned) training facility, located in the building to the north of our kennel facility. It's our way of saying "thank you" for all the wonderful work rescue organizations do rescuing animals from our shelter, and placing them into loving homes.

When you’re an animal in need, you can never have too many friends! It takes a network of animal lovers — from dedicated individuals to thriving organizations like the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA — to provide care, shelter, and advocacy for the homeless animals in our community.

The sheer number of homeless pets in our area demands that agencies work together to find placements for as many of them as possible. But rescue organizations are indispensable, too, for the one-on-one care they’re often able to give to special-needs pets. It’s not unusual for rescuers to welcome down-on-their-luck animals into their homes, sometimes for weeks or months at a time, to help socialize awkward pets or rehabilitate injured ones.

PHS has long been committed to working closely with local rescue agencies. When an animal requires a longer course of medical or behavioral care than can reasonably be offered in the shelter setting, we know we can count on our adoption partners to step in and help out. Last year, 385 shelter animals (including 293 dogs and cats) were transferred to rescue agencies for further care.

Animal rescuers are accustomed to working for little glory (and even less money), but this fall, we’re happy to host an event that puts these tireless, selfless volunteers in the spotlight and helps us say thank you for their hard work. On Sunday, October 8, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the PHSSPCA will hold a Rescue Adoptathon to honor and support our adoption partners in the community. You’ll get to know some of the devoted people and agencies we rely upon, and you’ll have the opportunity to meet dozens of dogs, cats, and rabbits who are looking for new homes.

Stop by our training building on October 8 to tip your hat to our adoption partners — and maybe to take home a furry new “partner” of your own!
